Clear & Active Performance

THE APPROACH
BE -> BECOME -> ACHIEVE

I aim to help athletes, coaches, and anyone searching for peak performance in their respective field to achieve more by first becoming more. The approach is to guide individuals to become their best selves, and success will inevitably follow.
About Me.
Hello! I am Camden Read. I am from Pleasant Grove, Utah and am currently a senior studying psychology at BYU. I love being active, playing sports, running marathons, being outside, playing boardgames, reading books, and pushing myself to become better. I first gained interest in Sport/Performance Psychology in my senior year of High School. I have played soccer my whole life and worked very hard to become a top level player, but always had mental barriers that would hold me back. I became familiar with mental skills that could elevate my performance and immediately had a desire to share these principles with others so they could benefit as well. After returning home from serving a two year mission for my church, I embarked on a journey of learning how to aid individuals on their journey to becoming their best selves and achieve peak performance.

Experience
2021-Present
Brigham Young University
Sport Psychology Teaching Assistant
I have been a Teaching Assistant for Dr Craig Manning, Human Performance Consultant for the Milwaukee Bucks, and his PSYCH 338 class for the past 4 years. I help teach and grade course content, as well as scheduling and conducting weekly TA meetings. Once per semester I meet with 15-25 students to help them build their personal mental performance plans.
2023
IMPACT Learning Institute
Intern - Specialized in Sport/Performance Psychology
IMPACT Learning Institute is a sports, entertainment and media professional development program run through the UCLA Anderson School of Management. During my internship I was able to learn from and connect with high level executives in the world of sports, entertainment and business. As well, I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Carrie Hastings, Sport Psychologist for the LA Rams, on developing a mental performance plan for an athlete.
2024
Ampelis
Intern - Sport Psychology
This past summer I had the privilege of working with Dr. Braden Brown, Associate Athletic Director of Mental Health at BYU, and the rest of the Ampelis team. I helped build and present a 6 week mental performance workshop for junior-high to high-school aged athletes. Along with the workshop, throughout the summer I aided in the delivery of two mental performance presentations at the BYU Girls Gymnastics Camp with Dr. Brown.
2025-Present
Brigham Young University
Mental Performance Intern
I currently serve as a Mental Performance Intern for the BYU Athletic Department. I engage in weekly 1-on-1 mental performance sessions with athletes across all different athletic teams at BYU, as well as conduct team interventions when possible.
While I have learned so much from many mentors, and they have impacted what I have learned and my own practice, I do not purport to be using their intellectual property or curriculum in any way. Clear and Active Performance is my personal mental performance curriculum.
